How To Add Microsoft Certificate Manager Into Microsoft Management Console?
Microsoft certificates are very popular these days. Therefore Microsoft has developed a tool to manage the certificates. It is called the Microsoft certificate manager. This tool is used to manage certificates, certificate revolution lists (CRLs) and certificate tool lists (CTLs).
The certificate manager is very useful but the user has to add it to the Microsoft Management console. The process to add the certificate Manager to MMC is very important. This is because it is a part of the configuration process of Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) for Microsoft Exchange Server 2007.
All these technicalities may sound a little imposing, but they are the facts. Plus it is very easy and user friendly. The users just need to follow certain steps.
First of all click the start button given on the lower left hand side of the screen. When the link pops up, select 'run'. After reaching run, it will ask about the program needed to be run. Herein the user has to enter 'mmc' and then click ok. This results in a pop up window with the name 'console 1'. Here the user has to look for the file option. When the file link is clicked, it will give many options. The user has to choose, 'add/remove snap in'. This option can also be accessed by pressing ctrl + m. When the user clicks this link, a box is opened. There is an option with the name 'add' in the lower left hand side of the box. The user has to click this 'add' option. As soon as the add option is clicked it shows a list of available standalone snap-ins. The user has to choose the option of 'certificates' from the list. After the user has selected the option, he/she has to click add. After this the user has to click on the option with the name 'computer account.' After that the user has to click on next. There comes an option with the name 'local computer' this refers top the computer on which the console is running. The user has to click it and then click finish. After it is done the user just has to click 'close' and then ok. This finishes the process and adds the Microsoft certificate manager to the Microsoft management console. There is just one thing to be made sure, the user should have a delegated membership account in the local administrators group for the target server. This will make sure that the Microsoft certificate manger is properly added to the Microsoft management console and is fully functional.
